The City of Oaks Puts Every Window Under a Canopy

Raleigh earned its nickname honestly. Willow oaks line the older streets, mature hardwoods shade whole blocks of the Five Points and Hayes Barton neighborhoods, and even the newer subdivisions out toward Apex and Wake Forest were planted with the expectation that they would fill in. That canopy is one of the best things about living here, and it complicates the window question more than most homeowners expect.

A shaded west-facing window and an exposed west-facing window are not the same window problem.
